The Chilliwack River (Vancouver, Coast & Mountains):

Only 96 km. (60 mi.) east of Vancouver, is the Chilliwack River, the most challenging white water in the Lower Mainland region of BC. This river starts at Chilliwack Lake, flowing down the slopes to the valley floor and eventually into the Fraser River. The diversity of the region makes it popular with tourists and outdoor enthusiasts alike. It offers recreational opportunities such as hiking, fishing, mountain biking, hang-gliding, wind surfing and white water rafting.

Several instructors offer courses in advanced moving water training on sections of the Chilliwack River and it also plays host to international paddling competitions. This river is graded from a class two to a class four with rocks, boulder gardens, blind corners, haystacks, and surfing waves. The canyon portion is steep and demanding.

Book your adventure with a qualified and experienced whitewater rafting company and enjoy the Picket Fence Rapid, Cable Pool, Boulder Run and the Race Course. Several well known rafting establishments in the area specialize in running this exciting and thrilling river.

The Elaho-Squamish and Cheakamus Rivers (Vancouver, Coast & Mountains):

Three very exciting whitewater rivers are found along the Sea to Sky Highway, between Vancouver, Squamish and the resort town of Whistler, they are the Elaho, Squamish and Cheakamus Rivers. The Elaho and the Cheakamus Rivers flow into the Squamish River, which makes its way into Howe Sound and the Strait of Georgia. All along the Highway 99 corridor are communities that cater to outdoor recreational activities. First and foremost, this region, is world famous for the down hill and cross country skiing facilities at Whistler/Blackcomb. Others outdoor activities include glacier skiing, mountain biking, back country hiking and camping, wind surfing, horseback riding, kayaking and whitewater rafting.

The Elaho-Squamish Rivers range from class two and three, but during high waters they are sometimes upgraded to a four. Depending on the river flow, the Elaho has drops, mini-boulders, holes, boulder garden rapids, a few eddies, high volume and the Big Wave. A smoother and technically easier run describes the Squamish River, but it has Steamroller Rapid, holes, swift flowing water and standing waves.

The upper Cheakamus River is closed to whitewater rafting, however the lower section is great for families. There are no big whitewater sections, just a few small splashes to keep the kids excited. It's a wonderful trip for anyone looking for a unique way to see the beauty of British Columbia. The silent forests and towering peaks provide the backdrop throughout the adventure and photographic opportunities abound. This is eagle country, where you will often see black bear and deer in the area.

First-time rafters and experts alike will enjoy top quality whitewater rafting with established guides and outfitters who will make it exciting and unforgettable. Enjoy a wild river run specially customized to fit your abilities. Only a short drive from Vancouver, are the Elaho-Squamish and Cheakamus Rivers, offering exciting white water rafting.
