The Babine Mountains Recreation Area provides the visitor with varying terrain perfect for snowmobiling, skiing and snowshoeing. The Babine Mountains are the winter range for mountain goats.
LOCATION
The area is located east of Smithers off of Highway 16. Access routes include:
1. From Smithers travel east and turn left on the Old Babine Lake Road and follow it to the Driftwood Canyon Provincial Park for access to the Silver King Basin.
2. From Smithers travel east for 6 km and turn left on the Babine Lake Road and follow it for 20 km to the Old Babine Lake Road for access to the Big Onion-Ganokwa Basin.
3. Use the same directions for access to the Big Onion but remain on the Babine Lake Road through McKendrick Pass to about kilometre 34.
 

PARK FACILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Snowmobiling - There are four main areas for snowmobilers to enjoy: the Ganokwa Basin area, the Harvey Mountain viewpoint, the Cronin Creek Basin and the Four Lakes area.

Skiing and Snowshoeing - Routes include: the Silver King Basin where over-night facilities are provided, the Lyon Creek and Harvey Mountain Road, the Cronin Creek Basin and other smaller routes such as Hyland Pass and McCabe Trail.
