The Peace Arch sits on the International Boundary between Canada and the United States and is dedicated to the lasting peace between the two countries.

The monument was first proposed by Samuel Hill who was a gifted roadbuilder with a dream that good transportation links would build a better world.

The International Peace Arch Association bought the 9 hectares that surround the arch in 1923 with the fundraising and support of local schools and donations.
