Kidney Lake

Location: Located approximately 65 km. (40 mi.) northeast of the community of Enderby. From the city of Vernon travel north on Hwy. #97A to Enderby. Turn east on the Mabel Lake Road. Turn north, just before reaching the small community of King Fisher on Mabel Lake, onto a gravel road that follows Dan Forth Creek. Follow this road to Kidney. A truck may be necessary, ask for directions and road conditions in Enderby.

Fishing Report: Maintained as a wilderness, low density lake, Kidney is a highly scenic lake with clear water, surrounded by forests of Cedar, White Pine, Hemlock and Spruce. Kidney supports an excellent Rainbow fishery for trout up to 5 lbs. Since 1989 the lake has been stocked with 8000 Pennask /Beaver Rainbow per year, providing fisherman with a good a good catch success rate.

Nearby Lakes
Several lakes can be found on the way to or from Kidney. Dale, Elbow, Grassy, Holiday, Noreen, Spruce, Stony, and Wap Lakes offer a variety of fishing experiences. Small BCFS campsites can be found on all of these lakes. Liver Lake, is 3 ha. (7.4 ac.) in size, and can be found lying just north of Kidney Lake. Even though it is so small, Liver supports a good Rainbow fishery for trout up to 2 lbs. In 1994, stocking was cut back to only 500 Pennask /Hatheume Rainbows. Management plans are to improve trout size in the future.
