A
step away from civilization
the Discovery Islands are gems of tranquility in the shadow of the
majestic Coast Mountains. Since 1987 we have offered a variety of
sea kayaking experiences for all ages and abilities. We offer friendly,
comfortable and safe access to the spectacular wilderness beyond
our doors. Relaxing and fun, our kayak programs also focus on developing
skills and self-confidence.
Coast
Mountain Expeditions relies on highly skilled local kayak guides
who live here year-round and understand this environment the way
nobody else can. They are all friendly and good-humored individuals
committed to making your vacation with us memorable and safe. Dedicated
professionals, these certified leaders have interesting backgrounds
and extensive local experience. Coast Mountain Expeditions is Vancouver
Islands original Sea Kayak Lodge.
Multi-day
Kayak Tours
No previous experience is required for our kayaking tours! We've
designed our trips to accommodate all levels of experience and ability.
Many people on our tours are first-time paddlers, but seasoned paddlers
will also find challenging and rewarding explorations. We ask only
that you bring along your spirit of adventure and be ready for a
lot of fun!
Affordable
Waterfront Accommodation
From our two Discovery Islands based lodges you can access a full
range of outdoor adventures including multi-day sea kayak tours,
marine park kayak day trips, kayak rentals, affordable waterfront
accommodation, hiking, biking, and whitewater kayaking in the area's
tidal rapids.
Kayak
Daytrips & Rentals
For "self serve" paddlers we are pleased to offer rentals
of high quality, comfortable fibreglass kayaks. These stable water
craft are made for touring and come fully equipped. We also offer
guided kayak day trips into Surge Narrows Marine Park.
Kayaking
with Grizzly Bears
We are pleased to offer exciting kayak expeditions to the Xwemahlkwu
First Nations Grizzly bear Sanctuary in Bute Inlet. More than just
a wildlife tour, this is a spectacular journey into mountainous
British Columbia Fjord. Come and meet the Xwemahlkwu people who
have lived peacfully with the bears for thousands of years.
We
are privileged to live in one of the world's most diverse and abundant
environments, and you will enjoy opportunities for viewing many
kinds of wildlife close-up. In the dense temperate rainforest, some
wildlife designs to visual camouflage and challenges observing eyes,
but much sea and shore life is brightly visible.
We
hope that sharing this beautiful environment will remind and inspire
us all to live in ways which gentle our human impact and help preserve
wild spaces. We take great pleasure in sharing our remote island
lifestyle and the natural beauty of our home here at the edge of
the mountains!
