to Big Bar Guest Ranch … a little heaven away
from the busy world! Big Bar Guest Ranch, near Clinton, is
nestled in the rolling hills of the Cariboo where time has
no meaning. We are just a 6 hour drive along Highway 1 from
Vancouver through some of BC’s most spectacular scenery
… reach us using the loop to or from Vancouver via the
historic Fraser Canyon one way … and then the Lillooet
/ Whistler route the other. This is a great way to discover
the scenic beauty of British Columbia.
The first thing you sense when you arrive at Big Bar Guest
Ranch near Clinton is the spirit of old-fashioned hospitality,
and the relaxed western atmosphere. At Big Bar Guest Ranch
we offer many different accommodations options for the individual
… the family … or even businesses that are seeking
a special place to host a meeting. Our guest rooms in the
Sagebrush Inn have queen or twin beds – some rooms have
lofts … and our cabins are fully equipped with kitchen,
full bathrooms, wood burning stoves and a beautiful view of
the lake and mountains of the Cariboo region of British Columbia.
One of the lodges has six rooms and two bathrooms, making
it perfect for groups or family reunions. If you want a more
simple style of accommodations you can choose one of our Tipi’s
on the hill overlooking the amazing landscape. Our big campsite
area with wash - and shower rooms is also very popular. The
historical building “Harrison House” was built in
1936 and here you will find the cozy Fireside Room and games
rooms with billiards, fooze-ball, table tennis, and darts.
At Big Bar Guest Ranch we invite you to leave the fast paced
city behind and slip on in to Cariboo time as you feel the
freedom that can only be experienced on horseback. Big Bar
Guest Ranch has access to thousands of acres which make for
some of the most scenic horseback riding in Canada.
Horses
are a way of life here and we are proud of our well-trained
herd and our experienced wranglers. Both will lead you on
horseback riding through the rangelands, wide open spaces,
timber and mountain meadows as you explore some of the most
breathtaking scenery from majestic mountains and meadows to
desert … and encounter wildlife, Indian carvings and
interesting land formations as you go. Camp out under the
stars while enjoying late night campfires, tall tales and
warm western camaraderie. The memory of this riding experience
will stay with you forever.
Big Bar Guest Ranch is surrounded by lakes renowned throughout
British Columbia for their excellent trout fishing. Big Bar
Creek joins our network of lakes and continues on to the Fraser
River. Wild trout are abundant, fat and sassy. So gather your
flies and lures & come hit the lakes. At Big Bar Guest
Ranch you can also enjoy hiking, wildlife viewing, canoeing,
gold panning, mountain biking and so much more.
